Welcome to Serendipity
Your tranquil retreat in southern Sri Lanka

Your home away from home in the beautiful southern province of Sri Lanka.
Set in a peaceful village in a ‘jungle’ location, close to the southern coastline, Serendipity is the perfect choice as your base to both relax and to explore this beautiful part of exotic Sri Lanka.
Located in almost half an acre of garden, our Serendipity oasis can indulge you with a hassle-free and hustle-free place to stay, whilst still being close to the many attractions the area has to offer. If you fancy a day lazing around at home, you can make use of our swimming pool or our massage/meditation hut to both invigorate and relax your body and mind. Or you can simply top up your tan on one of our sunbeds.
Away from the bustle of the town and the beach resorts – with the persistent noise of trains, buses, lorries and late-night parties – our serene location provides a great place to refresh your mind, body and soul amidst the natural beauty of the Sri Lankan countryside. Located only 3.5km (2 miles) from the beach, shops, restaurants and transport hubs of Weligama, you can reach these convenient facilities with just a 10-minute ride in a tuk tuk. We also have good wi-fi and a strong phone network signal for your digital and communication needs.
We can promise a private, friendly, inclusive, serene and comfortable place to stay for at least part of your holiday. We’re happy to provide further information on this site to help you decide if Serendipity is the right match for you.

Serendipity Latest News:
Whatever, the time of year, amidst all of the surrounding nature at Serendipity, it’s easy to forget your day to day worries. That is our aim for you during your visit.
Latest Visa News for Tourists (Oct 2025):
Please note that the new visa measures planned to start on 15th October have been rescinded and the system remains as previously. Visas remain available on arrival, although you are recommended to obtain this via the web site in advance.
Make sure you use the official government ETA website (link below) as there are many fake sites that will charge you more for doing nothing, and you may or may not actually get the ETA. The current rate is US$50 per person (plus a US$2 admin fee). Don’t pay more!
You can apply for your visa up to 6 months prior to your expected arrival date. It normally takes no more than a few hours to be processed, but you should certainly receive it within 24 hours. You will need to give an address in Sri Lanka for where you are staying. As many visitors travel around the country and stay in various locations, you should use the address of your first hotel/accommodation, if known, or the place you will be spending the most time. However, this information is rarely ever checked or used.
The confirmation email you receive will state that, upon arrival, you may be asked to show details of your outbound flight and proof that you have adequate funds to sustain you for the duration of your stay. This virtually never happens.
There’s no need to print off your ETA as the details will automatically be added to your passport number. If you’ve visited Sri Lanka before, please note that the additional Arrivals Card is no longer required.
The initial visa will last for 30 days from the date of your arrival. If you wish to stay longer you can apply for an extension once you’ve arrived in the country. This is for a minimum of 60 days (US$100 plus admin fee) and can normally be extended up to 180 days in total. It takes at least 2-3 working days to process, so make sure you allow plenty of time.

Whether we get to meet you or not, we at Serendipity wish you a very enjoyable stay in beautiful Sri Lanka.
