We're located near Weligama, in south-western Sri Lanka

We’re located in the village of Mudugamuwa, close to the beach-side town of Weligama. It takes about 10 minutes to get here from the town by car or tuk-tuk, and about 15-20 minutes on one of our bicycles.

You can reach us from the Southern Expressway (E01) in about 15-20 minutes.

Things to do in the local area

Serendipity is ideally located for guests to take advantage of the beauty, sights and local amenities of southern Sri Lanka. Its tranquil location also offers a peaceful place to relax and chill when you fancy a quieter day.

Easily reached activities include whale-watching, fishing, diving & snorkelling, boat trips (sea or lake), surfing, a spa visit, or perhaps a fish foot massage by the river. If you fancy a safari, Udawalawa National Park (famous for its elephants) can make a great day trip.

Weligama Town & Beach

shopping, restaurants, cafes, bars, the local train/bus stations and beaches that are great for swimming or surfing.

Mirissa Beach

a popular tourist resort with a variety of beach bars/restaurants. Many whale-watching trips depart daily from Mirissa harbour.

Coconut Hill

a scenic and peaceful location just a short tuk-tuk ride away.

Handunugoda Tea Plantation

locted just 20 minutes away, this rare example of a tea plantation outside of the hill country offers a free tour and a chance to sample and buy many of their exclusive tea varieties.

Kogalla Lake

this beautiful stretch of water hosts boat trips to a variety of small islands, with plenty of wildlife to observe.

Galle Fort & Unawatuna

this historic UNESCO World Heritage site can be reached in about 45 minutes by tuk tuk. Spend a few hours looking around the museums, shops, boutiques, cafes and restaurants, and perhaps follow it up with dinner and a swim on Unawatuna beach nearby.

Dondra Head

the lighthouse at Dondra Head marks the southernmost point of Sri Lanka. The magnificent ancient temple and giant Buddha statue at Weherahena can be visited en route.

Udawalawe National Park

a safari at Udawalawa is around 2 and half hours away by car. The park is particularly famous for its elephants, but there’s plenty of other wildlife to see there, too!

Kataragama

the temple at Kataragama is one of the holiest places in Sri Lanka and the destination for many a pilgrim of both Buddhist and Hindu persuasions. A trip here can be combined with a safari at Udawalae National Park.
